A Camelion & RoHS Primer
European Union (EU) directives dealing with
electronic and electrical waste include the Restriction
of the Use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
directive that bans six hazardous substances from
electronic equipment by July 1, 2006. In line
with these directives manufacturers must replace
environmentally hazardous Ni-Cd batteries with
alternatives such as Ni-MH batteries. Camelion
Ni-MH cells are free of Mercury,
Cadmium, and Lead
and comply with RoHS requirements. In addition
the electrochemical performance (long cycle life,
low internal resistance, high discharge rate)
is greater than equivalent Ni-Cd cells. For more
